Driving from Your Head to Your Toes

Sitting too close to the steering wheel can cause unnecessary injuries in an accident. To get the best distance from the steering wheel you must be able to fully extend the brake pedal while being as far away from the steering wheel as possible. Your knees should not be bent or locked when braking.
Your seat should be raised to have your hips at the same height or higher than your knees. This releases stress on your lower body and gives you a better view out your windshield. A two-finger gap between the backs of your knees and the seat is also ideal. If your seat does not get enough height for you a cushion can be added. Alternatively, if your head is very close to the ceiling after adjusting your seat your vehicle is too small for you.
The angle should be adjusted to be a comfortable angle for your personal preferences without hindering your driving capabilities. It should feel supportive of your lower back.
Steering Wheel Height
Your steering wheel should be a comfortable height and reduce muscle stress as much as possible. Steer lightly with both hands to reduce stress on one muscle over the other.
Your seatbelt should be at a three-point angle, one at your shoulder and two at your hips. The belt should be across your pelvis instead of your stomach, and the shoulder strap needs to be diagonal across from your body without touching your neck or outside shoulder.
